Week 60

What's up people! so first things first I got transferred! I'm in an Area called Arcadia which is the West End of Louisville and I am back with Elder Plumb, who I was with for a transfer in Shelbyville a while back! so that's pretty exciting! it feels weird to have left Georgetown after being there for so long! it felt like home almost haha but I'm super excited to get to work here in this part of the lords vineyard.

But last week we had a couple of really cool experiences, we went to an appointment in the morning around 11 one day and we knocked on the door and we were standing out there waiting and no body answered but there was a little old lady next door who happened to open her door as we were walking by and when she saw us she said "hey its the Mormons!" haha and so we started talking to her and asking her what she knew about the Mormons and she told us "heck I am one!" haha apparently she was baptized when she was like 15 out in the mountains of eastern Kentucky and had kind of lost contact with the church and had lived in Georgetown for 10 years and hadn't met anyone from the church! so we were able to get her info written down and let the English elders know about her and hopefully she'll be on the church's radar now but it was just a really cool little coincidence that we met her and we definitely were lead to be there that morning.

Another pretty cool little experience we had this week, a few weeks ago we helped a member move to a city outside of our area in a town called Paris Kentucky and while we were there we met a Hispanic guy who was doing the plumbing at the new house and so we talked to him and asked him if he would want missionaries to teach him and he said maybe but he didn't have time to talk because he was working, so we called the Sister missionaries in Paris that do the Spanish work and told them that he would probably be at the house if they wanted to try and see him and after that we didn't thing anything of it. later we got a call from the lady we helped move and she said "elders that guys here again here talk to him" and then handed him the phone so we talked to him and he told us he actually lived in Georgetown not Paris so we got his address and phone number and said we'd come visit him later and then didn't think much of it, just another potential investigator. THEN a few days later we were walking in the trailer park and we saw this lady who clearly did not speak Spanish but we decided to try and talk to her and so we gave her a pass along card and before we could say anything she asked us of we prayed with people because she needed a prayer, so we were like sure we'd love to pray with you! and she began to tell us that today was her birthday and that she had just lost a baby she was pregnant with and she just needed a prayer so we prayed with her and cried with her and testified of Gods plan for us and it was cool, we wrote down her info to give to the English elders and before she said anything she looked at my short little Peruvian companion and said "you speak Spanish right?" because my husband doesn't speak any English" and we told her we would love to come by and teach her and her husband and when we asked her husbands name we figured out her husband was the guy we had met in Paris and talked to on the phone just a few days earlier! it was super cool! I have no doubt that the Lord was guiding us to specific places at specific times to talk with specific people.

Also this week we had the mission conference with Elder Zwick of the Seventy and we didn't get the ipads! we barely even talked about them actually haha yes we will be getting them on Friday but all that we talked about was our personal righteousness and how the best filter the Church can provide for these electronic devices is our conversion to the gospel, I really enjoyed it, I'm excited to see the success that will come in being able to use these ipads!

I'm super excited to see what the lord has in store for us here in Louisville and I'm so grateful for this opportunity to serve him!
Love you guys, hope you have a great week!

Para siempre Dios esté con vos!

Week 59

What’s up people! this week has been a pretty good week! not too much crazy happened, it was a pretty normal week. Really nothing super eventful happened!

Tuesday we had several pretty good lessons! we have been seeing a lot of new people and we've stopped to see a lot of people we used to see which I think has been good. Its weird to be in an area for so long and to see how much the area changes and how people come and go.

We had some really good lessons with Eric this week as well and its been really good to see his desire and how much he is coming along! we had a really good lesson with him and a member of the stake presidency here and the spirit was super strong. I really can’t relate the success that we've been having with Eric to anything else other than the spirit. Its not because were really good teachers or anything like that its just because the first time we came over he felt the spirit really strongly and now every time we come over we will try and talk and chat for a little bit just to see how he's been and every time he asks okay can we start now? Because he cant get enough of the feeling of the spirit He told us that he wants us to come over everyday and teach him so we've been there everyday, a couple times he hasn’t been there or was sleeping or something so we have seen him like 4 times this week which is still really good. He’s just really feeling the spirit strongly with us and he is looking pretty solid for his baptismal date in June. We were talking about it the other day and we realized that a few weeks ago when we felt like we were really trying our best as a companionship to be the best we could be and work as hard as we could but we weren't seeing any results was right when we got in contact with Eric and he really felt the spirit and because of that, now we are seeing the results. I’ve gained a huge testimony that because of our obedience and working as hard as we can the lord was able to work through us and touch someone’s heart with the spirit, even if we didn't realize it right away. We’re really excited for him.

Other than that, nothing too big here in Georgetown. We've tried over and over to teach Michael this week but he keeps bailing on us. he did come to the branch soccer activity this Saturday though which was good.

This week we are going to Louisville to get the training on how to use the ipads, which is pretty exciting! President Brough said that all the ipads are in the mission office but that we wont get them this week so I don’t really know what’s going on with that or when we'll get them but we'll see i guess!

I love you guys; hope you have a great week!

Week 58

What's up people! So we got to talk yesterday for the most part so this might be a short email! But everything's going pretty good here in Georgetown! This week has been pretty warm and we've been working up quite the sweat on the bikes! The beer offers keep rolling in though haha its really funny how often that comes up! I think most of the time people know but think it'd be funny to ask.  We met a guy named Armando along time ago who would always feed us and we saw him thins week and he taught us how to make churros which was actually way easy! But he was in the kitchen teaching us how to do it and a friend came over and asked him for a massage so he told us hey, keep making these churros while I massage my buddy haha so there was a Peruvian and a white dude in shirts and ties in this Mexican guys trailer making churros for everybody while the Mexican guy was massaging somebody haha but it turned out good, we met a lot of people and learned how to make homemade churros so that was cool!

We were able to have another lesson with Michael this week, which was pretty good! He has a strong desire to learn but is kinda wimping out on us lately with church and other commitments, he tells us every week he's coming to church and then Sunday morning texts us and tells us he cant! But he told us this week that he is going to be a chanvelan, which is like a dance partner for a girls quinceanera (15th birthday party) which is like a big deal, so he said every Sunday afternoon he'll be doing this ballroom dance practice class thing to get ready for the party in august so we are going to try and make the switch with him to the English ward in the morning so he can actually come to church!

We also started teaching a guy named Eric Hernandez and we are pretty excited about him! He has a few issues but for the most part he is pretty open to us and wants to turn his life around. We had 2 appointments with him this week, which is really good especially for someone who works so much so hopefully we'll be able to keep seeing him 2 or 3 times a week!

Yesterday for Mothers day the branch did a big party that all the men were in charge of so we got to cook some Mexican Food and it went overall pretty well! It was a lot of work but it was good in the end! and today we went down to Lexington to go to the baseball game and we were sitting right by the home teams on deck circle and we kept yelling things in Spanish to all the Dominican and Cuban guys trying to talk to them haha it was a pretty fun game though!

Over all this week has been pretty good and I feel really blessed to be able to be in Georgetown right now! I love you guys and hope you have a great week!

Para siempre Dios esté con vos!
