Week 55

So I've talked to mom about this a little already but I have a few problems haha so Friday night after a long day of biking in the rain I got back to the apartment and decided to eat some left over Easter candy and as I was doing so I felt something that was a lot harder than the candy in my mouth, and I decided to learn from the experience I had with my retainer and not swallow haha turns out it was the crown of my tooth! so I just put the crown back in my mouth and bit down so its back into place but I decided I should probably get it checked out! so after a lot of phone calls my ward mission leaders wife set up an appointment for me in Frankfort at 1115 on Monday so we found a member who could drive us to Frankfort and we got there this morning to find out that my dental insurance only works in Utah apparently, so after several more phone calls we got a hold of mom and got the money transferred over and we just paid the 186 dollars for the visit and I assumed they would just fix it and I'd be on my way but that wasn't the case, they told me the tooth that I had a root canal on a few years ago was infected pretty bad and that's what caused the crown to come off and they told me the infection was pretty bad and that I had only 2 options, 1. get the root canal redone which would come to a total of 3300 dollars or 2. get the tooth pulled which would cost me about 300 dollars SO I don't really have money for either of those things and I don't really have the time or resources to go to Frankfort but they told me that the infection is bad enough that if I don't do anything I'll wake up one morning with a baseball sized sore on my check and I'll be in a lot of pain haha so needless to say I'm a little stressed and out of ideas so any suggestions? Should I just have my companion yank the tooth with some pliers or what haha I really have no idea what to do! the member that gave us a ride just happened to be a doctor and so he prescribed me a antibacterial drug that he said will fight the infection just temporarily until I can figure out what to do so maybe that will help!

Other than that this week was pretty good haha it has been pretty normal! I dropped off Elder Torrico and picked up my new Peruvian Elder Inga and its been a pretty good week! it feels like years since I've had a new companion so the change is definitely welcomed haha. But I feel like I've made a lot of spiritual growth this week, I decided to focus on Humility and made that the focus of my studies this week and I've realized how prideful I am haha but I've learned so much and really had a lot of humbling experiences and have been trying hard to make being more humble a priority and it has helped so much. The scriptures are full of examples and stories of how important humility is and I am really trying to be a more humble Missionary, and person in general.

I've also had a few really cool experiences with receiving spiritual guidance and knowing what to do in certain situations.  One particular instance involved Michael, we were kinda struggling to know how we could best help him and what he needed so during the week I was praying and studying with him specifically in mind and felt impressed to read a certain chapter of the book of Mormon with him and it went really well. We had kind of a funny experience with the lesson though, we showed up and started the lesson and after a while his aunt came over and saw us and sat down and started listening and later his sister Vivi came in and started reading with us, then eventually two friends knocked on the door and saw we were reading so they came in and sat down and listened, then his mom saw us all sitting in a circle in her living room reading so she came and joined us and sat down so I handed her my book of Mormon and pulled out another one from my bag and as we were reading she was asking us really good questions and making comments and participating in the lesson a lot, and right before we finished reading the chapter she turned the book over and looked at the cover and said to us "wait wait wait, this isn't the Bible!? I don't want to read this if it isn't the bible!" and she closed it and handed it back to me haha so we were so close! she was feeling the spirit and really enjoying it until she actually knew what she was reading haha

But we had another pretty cool experience where the spirit guided us to know what to do, last night we got home from church and we had planned to go try a few people in a certain area but I was really stressed out about my tooth situation and I remember just not being able to feel the spirit at all because I was so preoccupied with what I was thinking about so I decided to just go in my room and say a quick prayer and ask for some help and as I did I felt this really strong impression that we needed to go try and visit this left active lady who lived on the other side of town, so we biked over and knocked her door and no body answered and I felt pretty stupid haha I felt like I was totally inspired to go try that lady but I didn't know why! so I told my companion how I felt and he suggested we saw another prayer, and I felt like why do we need another prayer? I already prayed and felt like we should come here? (There’s my pride again haha) but we said another prayer and both felt like we should go try a particular family and we were able to visit them and get to know them a little more and it was really good and as we were leaving I felt pretty content and felt like we had followed the spirit pretty well but I felt like incomplete almost like I wasn't done yet, so I decided to just say a quick prayer in my head and ask where do we go now? and I just had a thought to go try a guy who was kinda on the way home anyway who used to meet with the missionaries but was almost never home because he works so much, so we said what the heck and we went and tried the guy and when we got there his car wasn't out front and all the lights of his trailer were off so I actually said out loud to my companion "oh he's probably not even here so we don't need to lock the bikes up" haha so we just left the biked on the front porch and knocked his door and waited for a minute and eventually after 2 or 3 knocks he opens the door and invites us in and tells us he was really happy to see us and that he had some questions and didn't really understand the tree of life story in 1st Nephi, so we sat down with him and read the story with him and it went really well! he told us "hey I’m not working tomorrow so can you come over again and read another chapter with me?" haha it was really cool, stuff like that does not happen very often so we are going to go see him again tonight and I'm super excited!

Week 54- Puros Peruanos

FAMILY!! so this week was really good! my companion goes home and youre really not going to believe who my next companion will be haha so there are 14 Spanish elders and 2 of them are natives and I just spent about 4 and a half months with one of them and now that he is going home the other native who is also from  peru is coming to Georgetown with me haha back to back Peruvians! he moved to Utah when he was like 12 though so he speaks a lot more English and he is a little more normal haha but im pretty excited! he actually already served 6 months of his mission in Georgetown so he knows all the people here so we should get some good work done together! 

Tuesday was a really interesting experience, we got a new ward mission leader and he is nothing like our old one haha so the ward mission leader is in charge of coordinating all the efforts of the ward with the missionaries, and our last one was a marriage councilor so he was super nice very soft spoken and a great guy just kinda asked us what we needed and gave us a piece of advice and that was everything right? so our new ward mission leader tells us come over to my house at 8 oclock on Tuesday night and so Tuesday roles around and we get a little lost and cant find his house and role up at 8:17 and get out of the car and before we could say anything he starts cussing us out and calling me a jerk and talling us we need to grow up and take our calling seriously and he told us to never come late again to his meetings, he said I don't care if you were baptizing the pope you don't show up late haha I was blown away! after he chewed us out we went in and he had a huge schedule with everything he needed us to do and all the people we could try and see and who we were working with and members he thought needed to be visited it was awesome! I honestly left his house scared out of my mind and so excited! I think this is exactly what this ward needs so im really excited to see how things change in the next few weeks! it would be really easy to be offended and mad that he swore at us and wasn't understanding that we were late but I kinda liked it haha like at least he takes his calling seriously and knows how important missionary work is! 

We had a lot of cool experiences this week and we've seen a lot of success but for the interest of time I just wanna talk about one specific experience we had on Saturday.

So we went and visited a family that we have seen before in the past who mostly just think were cool people and like to give us tacos and stuff haha but aren't super interested in doing anything other than chatting with us but we were walking by and we saw them and went and talked for a minute and they invited us inside and we sat on their couch and the mom went into the back room to do something and the dad was fiddling around in the kitchen and this little super chubby 6 year old girl comes up and sits on the couch in front of us and starts talking to us and telling us that her mom calls her bad names and hits her and she told us that she always prays to god that he will help her but she just didn't know what to do and she was like so intent on talking to us and telling us her problems and we just talked to her and told her that god loves her and that if she kept praying things would be okay and it honestly broke my heart to see this sweet little girl so sad but it made me feel really good that God led us to that place at that time and made the situation perfect so this little girl could talk to us and tell her how she felt and soon after we talked to her she told us okay ill keep praying, and she got up and ran off to play and soon after we left, it was just a really cool experience for me that doesn't happen super often as a missionary but it really showed me that God loves all his children no matter who they are or how old they are.

Elder Follett

Me and my 2 Peruvians haha the one on the right is my companion Elder Torrico who goes home tomorrow and the one on the left is Elder Inga who will be my companion tomorrow!

This is the Rocabado family!  The wife is white (but fluent in Spanish) and her husband is Bolivian but he recently just got back from Bolivia after trying to get papers for a few years and now their family started attending the Spanish Branch so even more Spanish families in Georgetown which is great!

For P-day last week we went and played a little baseball and the fields were right nect to a golf course and somebody brought a couple buckets of balls and we got to wale on a few of them so that was fun!

Week 53

WHATS UP EVERYBODY! so this week went really good! 

Unfortunately, its not looking like Michael will be getting baptized this weekend, he says he still is unsure this is the one true church. He feels good when he reads the Book of Mormon but he says he doesn't think that is his answer because he read the Quran and felt good too haha so we are going to be working with him a lot to help him get his answer! it is looking a little iffy as well if his mother would even let him be baptized, but we are trying to help him recognize his answer before we worry about obtaining permission from his parents. His parents are more than okay with us teaching him and him coming to church but they take baptism very seriously and don't want Michael to take it as a game, but I feel like they just want the best for him so if he has a solid "Yes I want to be baptized" his parents wont say no.

We are teaching a big group of people right now, I'm excited to be here in Georgetown! its come a long way since I got here 6 months ago, I don't think its due to me but we have been seeing the lords hand in a lot of people lives here. We are teaching a lady named Yadira who is definitely changing a lot! when we first met her she would get really caught up on things like what's the difference between a verse or a chapter or she really was afraid of praying in front of us but now she is really starting to understand a lot. She still has not been to church and she still is not married so she'll take a while but she is moving in the right direction! We recently also started teaching a lady named Lizbeth! We knocked on her door and without us saying anything at all she invited us in and had us sit down and got us something to drink haha we were really confused! usually we have to at least explain who we are at least but turns out this lady is the Niece of Frank (The elders quorum president in the Spanish branch/owner of franks donuts/missionaries best friend) so we have taught her twice now and were excited about her! she is like accountable to herself, like we invited her to read after the 1st lesson and when we came back before we could even ask she told us "don't be mad, I haven't read yet!" haha so it was bad she didn't read the book of Mormon but good she at least remembered we told her to do it! We also met franks younger sister this week, Carmen, and she was really nice! she said she's pretty set in her Christian church but she LOVES to watch BYU TV haha so she watched conference and she'll always watch BYU sports or like conferences or talks or whatever so we'll for sure try and stop by and visit her again.

Friday was absolutely crazy! there was a HUGE flash flood storm! it poured rain harder and longer than anything I've ever seen! and because its so hilly here at the bottom of all the hills there would be a huge lake of water built up, there's a small river that runs through the center of town and it raised more than 10 feet so the parking lots in the middle of town were all underwater haha it was crazy! and that was the night we had planned and set up everything and invited everyone to have a bonfire for the branches very first mutual, but it turned out alright! we ended up just doing it inside and scratching the bonfire and playing games and having pizza and stuff so it turned out really good and we had a lot of youth show up which was really good for Michael.

Saturday and Sunday were all conference haha it was super great! there were a lot of talks that I really needed to hear and stuff I had been specifically praying about so that was really cool! Easter was really lame haha the ward members took good care of us and I had a nice package full of candy, but its still just not the same without you guys!

Week 52

whats up lily! thanks for the email! that video of you doing gymnastics was really cool! youre getting really good! and yes missionaries go to church! every sunday i got to 2 churches! i go to english church in the morning and later i go to spanish church! isnt that cool? i love church! love you! have a good day at school!

WHATS UP PEOPLE!! this week was another really good one! we have so many people we are teaching right now its kinda hard to narrow them all down haha but things are going really good here! we finally got the car back out of the shop so were back to every other day biking which is great! we  have been really busy and running around trying to help everybody the best we can! The Bishop in the English ward has a daughter who just got back from her mission in El Salvador, and she will not leave us alone haha every few days she texts us and says "elders when are we going to teach people? when are your appointments? what are we teaching them?" haha its great! she was really sick in El Salvador so she ended up coming home 6 weeks early but all she wants to do right now is missionary work so she has been coming with us to visit a lot of people which is great! 

We had a church tour with Yadira this week, a church tour is basically just when we take them to a church building and show them the chapel and talk about the sacrament and walk around the buildings and look at the pictures and explain them and we usually end by going in and looking at the Baptismal Font and talk about baptism, and it went really well with Yadira! she is really open and has lots of questions! she isn't quite ready to be baptized, she hasn't been to church yet and she is living with her boyfriend so the reason for the church tour was to help her feel more comfortable with the church and what not! sometimes people's agency is hard to deal with as missionaries haha you just want to help these people and if they just do what we tell them their lives would be so much better but we have to like help them understand that we cant just tell them and then they'll automatically listen to us! 

We have been making some really good progress with Michael this week too, his baptismal date is in 2 weeks and its coming up really quick but he still says he is unsure and hasn't received his answer yet. Sunday we did a fast with him and it went really well, all the talks in sacrament were almost like geared right towards him and later the YM president came up to talk to us and tell us how smart Michael was and how he knew more than a lot of youth in the branch and how he sets the example for others in the class and acts really mature and he asked us if there was anything he could do to help us get him baptized haha so the members are just falling in out laps right now which usually doesn't happen! so we have planned a mutual activity for the youth in the branch (which is only like 7 kids haha) but the YM president like set it all up and were going to have like a little testimony meeting and games so were running 90 miles and hour this week to help Michael get his answer!

i miss you guys! thanks for the words of wisdom about progression never ending and how my mission wont stop when i go home, i think ill just have to cross that bridge when i come to it haha. JAck is the oldest 16 year old i know haha he cracks me up! the picture of him in the paper shorts made me lose it haha he's a total goon! i hope you miss me in the back seat on the way to california! that sounds so fun! i miss road tripping with you guys! that video of lily doing gymnastics is sweet! she's really good! love you! tell everybody hi! 

Week 51

HEY! whats going on! this week went really well! we've been having tons pf people to teach and most everyone we see were teaching the whole family which is great! This Wednesday we had interviews with the mission president which happen every other transfer so about every 3 months, but it went really good! It is hard to not be inspired when you receive one on one council from someone with the authority over you like your mission president! he told me he thought i was going home soon and he thought he had done a recommendation for BYU and i told him i wasn't going home for a year but if he wanted to recommend me to BYU he was more than welcome to haha but he also gave me a lot of really good council and advice.  He also kinda made me feel a little better about my companion situation he really validated me feelings, like before i was kinda struggling having love for my companion especially since its been so long with him but he cracked a few jokes and made me feel a little better and less guilty for not loving my companion as much as i should haha but i asked him how he thought i could be a better missionary, and his response was really interesting, you could tell a big difference when he was talking normally and when he was talking and when he was speaking through the spirit, but he got in his military serious face and he told me "Elder Follett i need you to be bold and to not be afraid to say anything to anyone that needs to be said, and i need you to be obedient, and when you do those 2 things you'll have the spirit with you always and i need you to be obedient to what the spirit tells you to do." so 2 of the 3 things he told me to do had to do with obedience so i know what i need to work on now haha. 

On Friday i went on an exchange with a my district leader here named Elder Pyper (lance's nephew) and it was a lot of fun! he is a pretty cool guy and he said they go down to Lance's house a lot so ill for sure see him after the mission. 

In interviews our mission president expressed to both me and my companion later that we should try and baptize our 2 investigators, Michael and Viviana, as soon as possible they have met all the requirements for baptism so this week we committed them to be baptized the 11th of April so i'm really hoping we can make that date! so far its all looking good and we should get there!

This week we knocked on a door of a family that we knew were Hispanic but we had never met before and when we knocked a bunch of little kids ran to the window and were looking at us and the mom yelled at the kids in Spanish and asked who it was and a little girl like maybe 4 or 5 responded to her mom in English "i don't know but they're handsome!" haha the lady wasn't interested but we walked away from that door with a smile at least!

Week 50

WHATS UP! this week was definitely a different one but it was still pretty good! 

We had some different experiences and people we thought for sure we would continue to teach we aren't teaching now so that gave us a lot of time to find new people and knock a lot of doors this week!

So we were teaching 2 different families and both of them were part member families, the one 14 year old girl named Jennifer and the other family of the less active guy Antonio/Pedro and his girlfriend and her 2 daughters, but we were biking on our way over to see them and Elder Torrico got a flat tire and as we were stopping to figure out what to do, Antonio called us and told us that he and his girlfriend just started working 2 jobs and don't have time for us right now and so the time has officially started where every Hispanic in the united states works for 20 hours a day and sleeps for 4 and don't have time for the missionaries and this will last for about the rest of the summer until it gets cold again haha and then we had a lesson with Jennifer and she told us she is not going to get baptized until "next year" so we are going to drop her and not spend much time with her anymore because we are kinda wasting our time.  We will still stop by to see her and the family every once in a blue moon but for now were leaving it in the lords hands.

We also got a car this week! haha so finally we are going to share the car with the English elders every other day so i'm really excited for that! we'll be able to do a lot more work! So the combination of losing a few investigators and getting a car we met some good new people and i'm excited to keep finding new people! that's one thing i really love about missionary work is knocking on doors haha especially trailers! you never know what will open the door and you have some really cool experiences! 

Also we had a meeting as a zone and the leaders finally announced that in mid May two of the apostles will be coming to meet with the Mission president and train him on IPads and soon after(2 or 3 weeks) we will get the IPads! and they said everyone going home in November or before will have to turn them in before they go home but everybody else will get to keep them after their missions so that's cool! also they told us that we will not have to worry about paying for them, the church will provide them through your home ward and stake funds so temporal blessings are pouring down on Elder Follett right now haha

Week 49

Whats up fam! this week was not too bad!

Tuesday we had a lesson set with a lady named Yadira and so we were able to go with Frank (donut shop man/elders quorum president) and we had a really good lesson with her and the spirit was super strong! we were able to answer a lot of her questions and it went really well. After the lesson Frank told us he could drop us off at our next lesson but he couldn't stay which was fine for us but we got to the next place and he ended up staying with us and teaching the next family which was really cool haha so this is a guy who's name is Antonio, but sometimes he tells people its Pedro,  and how we found him was really weird haha we were just walking down the road and we saw his car parked and he rolled his window down and yelled to us to come over so we came over and he told us that he was a member and was baptized in Ogden Utah like 15 years ago but he really doesn't know anything like we asked him if he reads the book of Mormon and he said "the little blue book?" haha but he told us he wanted us to teach his girlfriend and her 2 teenage daughters because they were a little rebellious and we mentioned to him that here in georgetown the youth have an activity every wednesday at the church at 7 if they ever wanted to go and he was like oh yeah that would be cool and after that we didnt see him for about a week and one wednesday at about 6:55 and he said "hey were at the church right now with the 2 girls, are you guys gunna be here?" haha and we were on the other side of town with our bikes in the middle of an appointment so long story short they ended up going to mutual and the georgetown ward has a huge youth group, there's more youth in the georgetown ward then in the entire stake so they went and played dodgeball with a bunch of kids they didnt know and when we went and saw them with Frank we asked them how they liked mutual and they said "we hated it and we dont want to go back" haha so that was a little disappointing! but we had a good little lesson with them and their mom is really interested, and the younger daughter Maria(15) was at least friendly but the older daughter Viviana(16) was really not having it haha i was trying to like joke with her in english and everything and she just gave me the glare so she'll be a little harder to work with but im excited to keep working with their family!

We also had a lesson with Michel and his sister, who is also named Viviana, and his mom decided to sit in and she was super hostile like arguing with everything we were saying and telling us the book of mormon was a lie and it was really hard haha we were just trying to like ignore her and teach michael but it was kinda just us trying to talk while getting yelled at BUT we were able to testify about the book of mormon and it really brought the spirit into the lesson so that was good!

Wednesday night we went to a members house for dinner and it was raining all day so all the snow was gone and by the time we left the members house an hour later there was 6 inches of snow on the ground and by the next morning there was like 14 it was pretty crazy! so thursday we were stuck inside all day, other than shoveling Franks Donuts parking lot we couldnt do anything which was rough! but the next day we biked down to the trailers and had a lesson with Jennifer, the 14 year old living with her aunt and uncle who are members, and we set a baptismal date with her so hopefully she can make that date! she is not lacking anything she comes to church every week, she's been taught every lesson and has a testimony so all she needs is to tell her parents that she's gunna do it! so im excited for that!

Week 48

What's up!! so we got transfer calls on Saturday and i am not going anywhere.  I am staying here for 6 more weeks until My companion goes home and I'll probably be here for 6 more weeks after that so I'll be staying put for a while haha so I'm gunna go ahead and get used to Georgetown.

This week was actually a pretty good one though, we had some good lessons and did some pretty good work.  we have a lot of investigators here and not enough time to see them all! its good that we have such a large teaching pool but now we kinda have to sift through all the people and find which ones will be willing to act and do anything, which ones are really ready to change! so the work is going on really good here and I'm really enjoying the area. We got some rain last night so that's helping to melt all the leftover snow finally! this email might be really short haha i really cant remember a lot of what happened this week! the week was really pretty average! We had a few lessons with Jennifer and just took one topic and discussed it really simply, like we tried to explain to her that God and Jesus are 2 different people and she gets it and then you ask her to repeat it to you and she says "Jesus Christ is the father of god??" haha so its really hard teaching her! i feel like the simpler we teach the more confused she is! We also were supposed to have a lesson with Michael on Friday but he called us and said his mom was going to the hospital for something so we just stopped by the next day to see how everything was going and when we got to his trailer it was him and his cousin, who is a member, and like 7 or 8 adults just partying and listening to really loud Mexican music and they were all super drunk and it was like 3 in the afternoon haha so we couldn't teach him but we had a good little chat outside in the cold for a few minutes! On Sunday we had a guy just call us and say hey i wanna come to church whats the address, and what do you know he showed up with his girlfriend and her daughter haha so that was cool!

Also Sunday night we had a pretty unique first time experience haha it was raining and we had a lesson with a white lady on her porch, and she is 8 months pregnant, while she was chain smoking and not wearing pants, just a big baggy UK sweatshirt haha so i don't know what i expected when i got a call to Kentucky but that pretty much sums it all up.

Week 47

Whats up family! So this week ended up being not too shabby! we had a really slow first couple of days due to the crazy weather but things really picked up towards the weekend! 

So Wednesday we took a long walk over to a small apartment complex to try some people! it took us like 2 hours to walk there and we were there all day and had 2 really good lessons! We found a kid named Santos who i taught here a long time ago, we hadn't seen him since about November and we started teaching his cousin, Bernabé, as well. 

Later that week on Friday we made our way down to the trailer park and had a good lesson with Jennifer and her Cousin, who is a member but doesn't have a huge testimony of the church. So that was a good visit.  after that lesson we had a little extra time on our hands so we decided to go and knock on a trailer we had tried before.  We knocked and met a lady named Pili who wasn't super interested but she knew who we were because her nephew, Nico,  is a member here in Lexington and she told us actually he is here right now! so she let us in and saw Nico and talked to him a little and met Pili's son Michael, who is 14 and we had a little lesson with him and his Aunt Maybeth(the mother of Nico) who goes to 2 churches every Sunday, the Catholic Church and the Mormon church haha she has been taught everything for years, by every missionary in Lexington and is super great and loves missionaries and loves the church but loves the Virgin Maria too much haha she doesn't want to give it up so she still hasn't been baptized! but we were teaching a lesson to Michael and his family and Maybeth started testifying like she was a missionary herself! she was saying how great the church was and how true the book of Mormon was and how these missionaries are sacrificing so much because they love their savior Jesus Christ! it was awesome haha the spirit was strong! and then to end her testimony she said, "and Mormons like the Virgin Mary too, they just don't say it that much, but that's a topic for another day" haha so that was pretty funny! but we invited Michael to come play soccer with us on Saturday night with a bunch of guys from the branch and he said sure i'll come! so Saturday roles around and we go with Frank (the donut shop guy) and we picked up Michael and Nico and went and had a blast playing indoor soccer.  After we asked him if he wanted to come to church and he said Yeah sure! haha so Sunday came and we picked him up in the morning and he came to church with us and really enjoyed it! there is only 3 young men in the ward, on is his cousin Nico and another was baptized last month but he fit in really well and had a good time. After we asked him if he liked church and he said "¡me encanto!" which means I loved it! haha and he told us he wanted to come again next week so and that we could come over Tuesday to teach him so I'm super pumped about him haha 

Last night a member family from the English ward invited us over for dinner and so after we had eaten we gave a little spiritual thought like always and the Dad started to tell us this story about how the other night he had some weird dream about missionaries and about how one of them got a letter and it was a dear john from his girlfriend and the member was saying "what was the name? i think the person who wrote the letter was named Courtney" haha and he said that and i flipped out! i was like WHAT?! haha and me and Torrico were all freaking out and after about 10 seconds of me having a heart attack i figured out that one of the other missionaries put the member up to it and told him to tell me that story to freak me out haha it was a pretty funny joke!

Week 46

whats up family! 

so usually i start these emails off by telling you that the week went either really good or just average but unfortunately neither of those are the case this week haha so this is what all happened. So last Monday our mission president called us and told us that we were now authorized to share the car with the English Elders so we worked it out with them and decided to go every-other day, which is great! so the week went by and we used the car on Tuesday and Thursday and had some great lessons and were able to cover a lot more ground then on bikes! Then on Saturday we drove down to Louisville and say Elder D. Todd Christofferson and it was a super cool experience! THEN on the way home it started to snow a bit and as we were about a mile away from home a good ole boy in a truck had a bunch of stuff in the bed and it got blown out by a big gust of wind and so the car in front of us stopped and the elder driving didn't see it so we slammed into the back of this guys car, and the front of our car was completely smashed but this guys car was completely fine, so i recommend that you buy a Nissan Rouge haha so our days of having a car were short lived and now all 4 of us are on bikes.  So not that bad right? just like before? nope. a huge snow storm came in Sunday night and its been snowing ever since and people here have no idea how to drive in the snow haha its actually really funny like every school and business in the county shuts down and they don't know how to plow very well here so the snow stays on the ground and it freezes so there's no room on the sidewalks or roads to bike so were hiking everywhere in the snow! So I'm really glad i got my boots sent to me haha but after all that was said and done God still thought the Georgetown Elders needed to be a little more humble! we went last night to visit our 19 year old investigator, Guillermo, and he answered the door and handed us his Book of Mormon and told us that he doesn't read it and doesn't want to and that we were wasting our time and he was wasting his so it would be better if we didn't come back haha it was like a punch to the gut! it was kinda funny though, it honestly felt like a break up! haha he kinda took the "it's not you, it's me" approach! but all said and done i guess its a good thing, if he's not ready we need to find the people who are! hopefully one day he'll come around and run into missionaries when he is more prepared! Even though it feels like things are falling apart here in Georgetown i feel pretty good! like circumstances are circumstances and you cant change them so you might as well be happy and work hard anyway! I kinda have the attitude like nothing else can go wrong now haha but i know it'll be alright and there's always gotta be ups and downs in missionary work! we still have a lot to look forward to here and a lot of work to do!

Just something i wrote down that Elder Christofferson said that i really liked, "It's a lot easier for the Lord to guide your steps when you're moving"

on the bright side there is the smith family! a few months ago me and my companion elder Henderson were sitting in the entrance of Walmart on a monday morningwaiting for the english elders to finish shopping when this guy walked up to us and said "hey elders my name is Rodney and i was baptized when i was 13 but havent been to church since and id like you to come over and reteach me everything so i can choose as an adult and id like you to teach my family as well" haha so we gave his info to the english elders and 2 weeks ago he received the aaronic priesthood and now his wife and son are scheduled to be baptized on saturday! this is a picture of the 4 elders and Rodney and his son tyler after some pday sledding!

Week 45

What's up! another week's gone by! we had a really good week here in Scott County!

Tuesday we had another lesson with Guillermo and it was a good lesson but a little disappointing! we finally figured out his doubt! so he is working at a Hotel cleaning rooms and he works 7 days because he is saving up to go to college and because of his circumstances he cant get any type of help paying for tuition and what not so he told us his focus right now is work and saving money so he cant or more like wont get Sundays off! So its a bummer but at least now we understand his doubts! on a happy note his mom did make us some really good Mexican food after the lesson! I cant remember what they're called but I'm sure spencer will know! its like a little round tortilla with salsa Verde and like this white cheese on top! it was super good! and for dessert she gave us la arroz con leche, which is like kinda rice pudding but it was super good as well haha we actually came back to their house 2 days later on Thursday and taught his mom and step dad for the first time which was really cool! we watched the restoration video with them and the spirit was super strong! 

We also had a lesson with our 14 year old investigator and we decided to explain the restoration to her one more time, even though she has been taught it many times before. After about 30 minutes of explaining about prophets and the apostasy and joseph smith restoring the gospel,  we asked her is she believed that joseph smith was a prophet, to which she replied "yes, its just that I don't know what a prophet is" hahah so we are going to have to seriously re think the way we teach her, its been a struggle! she is great, super open and willing but really slow haha

Friday night we had a bunch of appointments fall through and so we were just trying some old/potential investigators and we knocked on this guys apartment door and were just standing there in the cold and the dark and we heard from the door behind us this voice of a Hispanic lady talking really fast so me and Torrico both slowly turned to eachother and laughed haha and we turned around and knocked this apartment door and the lady answered and let us in and we saw a guy on her couch and figured out his name was Isias, or Isaiah in English, and we started teaching them both and he was a little stand off-ish but still listened to us and agreed to take and read a book of Mormon and as we were leaving he actually told us he was a pastor at one of the local Baptist churches haha so hopefully he reads the book of Mormon and prays with real intent and gets baptized and brings his whole congregation with him haha one can only hope! 

Also, this Saturday some guy named D. Todd Christofferson from the quorum of the 12 apostles is coming to visit the Great Kentucky Louisville Mission so the whole mission is gathering in Louisville  for 2 hours to listen to him talk so I'm really excited for that!

A few weeks ago we went and toured the Toyota factory here in Georgetown (the 2nd biggest in the world and 1st biggest in the US) and it was super sweet! if you people ever come to Kentucky we for sure are going to do this tour! super cool stuff! it was free and the drive you through while their building cars it was super cool!
